2 pounds lean ground beef1/2 cup quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats1/4 cup whole milk1 large egg, beaten1/4 cup ketchup1/2 cup chopped onion3 teaspoons finely diced green pepper1 teaspoon saltDash pepper8 hamburger bunsLettuce leaves, optionalSliced tomato, optional

Preparation

Combine first nine ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Shape into eight patties. Grill until burgers reach desired doneness. Serve on buns with lettuce and tomato if desired.
