Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened1 cup sugar2 eggs, room temperature2 tablespoons milk1 teaspoon vanilla extract2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour2 teaspoons baking powderDecorator’s sugar, optional
Preparation
In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in milk and vanilla. Whisk together flour and baking powder; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Chill at least 2 hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350°. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to 1/4-in. thickness. Cut with trefoil cookie cutter or cutter of your choice. Place cookies on ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with decorator’s sugar if desired.
Bake until lightly browned, 8-10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
