Ingredients
2 cups packed brown sugar1 cup shortening3 large eggs3 cups all-purpose flour1 teaspoon salt1 teaspoon baking powder1 teaspoon baking soda1 teaspoon ground cinnamon1 cup buttermilk2 cups rolled oats1 cup raisins1 cup chopped walnuts
Preparation
In a large bowl, cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine the flour, salt, baking powder, soda and cinnamon; add alternately with milk to the creamed mixture. Stir in the oats, raisins and nuts.
Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for about 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
