Ingredients

1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour

2 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. kosher salt

1/2 c. (1 stick) unsalted butter

1/2 c. buttermilk

1 tbsp. melted butter

Preparation

Step 1Preheat oven to 425º and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.Step 2In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking powder. Add butter and, using a pastry blender or two forks, work butter into the flour until the butter is in roughly pea-sized pieces.Step 3Add buttermilk and stir with a fork until a shaggy dough forms. Using a ¼ cup measuring cup, , scoop out biscuits and transfer to the prepared baking tray, about 3 inches apart.Step 4Bake until golden brown with darker spots on the edges, 15 to 20 minutes.Brush the biscuits with melted butter and serve.

They can also be totally customized like adding in a bit of cheddar and some sliced scallions. Or you could swap 2 teaspoons of sugar for the salt and add some raisins, for a savory-sweet bite.
