Ingredients

1/2 cup butter, softened1 cup sugar3 large eggs3 cups all-purpose flour3 teaspoons baking powder1 teaspoon salt1-1/2 cups whole milk1 can (21 ounces) apple pie filling2 teaspoons ground cinnamonTOPPING:1/2 cup chopped walnuts1/4 cup packed brown sugar2 tablespoons butter, meltedGLAZE:3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar1 tablespoon butter, softened3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract2 to 3 teaspoons water

Preparation

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Pour half into a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Combine pie filling and cinnamon; spoon over batter. Drop remaining batter over filling; spread gently.

Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Combine glaze ingredients; drizzle over warm or cooled coffee cake.
