Ingredients

1 pound ground beef1/2 medium onion, chopped2 garlic cloves, minced1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce3 cups uncooked penne pasta1 cup beef broth3 cups water1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes1 teaspoon onion powder1 tablespoon Italian seasoning1 package (5 ounces) fresh spinachShredded Parmesan cheese, optional

Preparation

Heat a Dutch oven over medium heat; add ground beef and onion. Cook and stir, crumbling meat, until beef is no longer pink, 5-7 minutes; drain. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Add tomato sauce, pasta, broth, water, diced tomatoes and seasonings. Stir; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer until pasta is tender, stirring occasionally. Top with spinach; cover just until wilted. Stir. If desired, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
