Ingredients

1 box white cake mix (and whatever ingredients the package requires)

3 c. powdered sugar

6 tbsp. butter, softened

2 tsp. vanilla extract

5 tbsp. milk

10 drops green food coloring

2 boxes instant vanilla pudding (or cheesecake flavor; 3.4 ounces each)

4 c. milk

10 drops green food coloring

10 drops neon green food coloring (or lime green)

Preparation

Step 1Bake the cake according to the box’s instructions, in two 8-inch round pans. Set aside for at least 30 minutes to cool.Step 2Make the Green Buttercream Frosting: Pour the powdered sugar and butter into a large mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer set to low, gradually beat the two together until it forms pea-sized yellow clumps. Add 3 tbsp. milk and 6 drops of food coloring, beating until creamy. Gradually add more milk until the frosting is easily spreadable, and add food coloring until it reaches the shade of green you like. (We used about 10 drops.)Step 3Place one layer of cake onto a cake stand or serving plate. Top with a 1/2"-thick layer of buttercream frosting, then place the other layer of cake on top of that. Set aside.Step 4Make the Slime Pudding Topping: Pour two boxes of pudding mix into another large mixing bowl. Add the milk and about 5-6 drops of both types of green food coloring. Beat on low until combined, gradually adding more drops of food coloring until you reach the color you like best. (We used 10 of each.) Place the pudding in the fridge to thicken for at least 5-10 minutes.Step 5Pour the pudding topping over the cake just before serving.
